Alto-cumulus clouds are "larger rounded masses, white or grayish, partially shaded, arranged in groups or lines, and often so crowded together in the middle regions that the cloudlets join." These clouds at times resemble the cirro-cumulus, but their much larger size and lower altitude, two to three miles high, distinguish them readily. These clouds, too, when accompanying cirrus clouds, forewarn us of impending storminess.
When clouds appear like rocks and towers,
The earth's refreshed by frequent showers.
