Graduate Studies

Jackie has been accepted in to the School of Music's master's program. She will be pursuing a Masters degree in Choral Conducting. This acceptance also includes a GA Scholarship that will cover her fee statement (tuition & fees) but not housing.

Jackie will need to complete the additional requirements for admission into the Sam Houston State University Graduate Program. She is scheduled to take her GRE (Graduate Record Examination) on August 4th. This computer based exam measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, analytical writing & crititical thinking skills.


Required Coursework: Conducting Track (21 hours)
CND 501X Applied Conducting (8 hours)
MUS 681X Recital I (1 hour)
MUS 588 Seminar in Literature (3 hours)
MUS 598X Advanced Studies in the Applied Discipline (3 hours)
ENS 512 Ensemble (2 hours)

Electives selected from the following (3 hours):
MUS 563 Pedagogy of Theory
MUS 567 Score Reading
MUS 5XX Music History

Other approved course
