Little Girl - Flower Garden

Doug started this project on Saturday, April 14th,
by putting in the irrigation up to the enlarged flower bed by the pool

Memorial Day weekend, we purchased the moss rock and starting building the rock wall.

The rock wall was completed later in the week.

The first week of June we had a lot of rain and we learned the rock wall would hold water,
and make a small pond for some fish/ducks...if the flower garden goes south.

This weekend, we purchased some flowers from Calloways Garden Center
and some garden soil & mulch from Home Depot.

Doug is shown mixing the garden soil with the native dirt.

Then it was time to plant the flowers we found that would love
the full sun exposure of this location and as drought resistant as possible.

Back row: Purple Asters - Height 12"; Spread 12"

Then a row of multi colored Angelonia (the spikey flowers that will attract butterflies).
They will get about 10-18" tall.

The flowers on the sides of the little girl statue are.
Starry Eye Nirembergia & Pink Texas Skullcap.
Both of these are low growing: 4-6"

In front of the little girl statue are Hawaiian Blue Eyes (low spreading blue flowers similar to Morning Glory) and some Blue Diamond Phlox (low spreading green mounds with bluish purple flowers)

Then the new drip line was placed to water the plants more efficiently.

And finally 2 bags of mulch were added to keep the moisture from evaporating in the Texas heat.

Another project completed!!

We are hoping the flowers will fill in over time and that
the little girl will look like she laying in a field of flowers.
