Vacation - Day 5 - Birthday Surprise

What better place to celebrate Doug's 50th birthday, than at the 50th state - Hawaii.

Doug & I were up early, dressed and anxiously waited for the Spooners to arrive at 9:30am.

At 9:30am, the Spooners arrived with some breakfast fixings...little did Doug know they had met up earlier with Josh & Jill, Karl & Audrey, Jackie & Diane. After I escorted the Spooners in, I held up everyone else in the alcove area of the condo. Once they were all in, I gave them the sign to start singing "Happy Birthday". They burst in to the condo, surprising Doug....leaving him speechless for a long, long time!!!!!

He didn't know what to think!

Josh & Jill had shopped for breakfast type foods the day before. We had sausages, scrambled eggs, assorted muffins, assorted fruits, juices/coffee....and cake. Audrey whipped up some mimosa's and we toasted Doug's birthday. He was still pretty much speechless and trying to figure out how everyone got there at the same time to pull this off.
Photos will be posted later, as Diane was the official photographer of the event and I haven't received those photos yet.

I would spend most of the rest of the day telling him the stories of how we had planned this since March of 2009.

Later that evening, the Spooners would host a cocktails and appetizer event at their hotel.

IT WAS A VERY MEMORABLE DAY!

Thank you to all of you that helped with the planning & execution and especially to all of you that knew about the surprise and didn't tell the secret!
