This afternoon, Doug went to use the guest bathroom downstairs. He noticed there was water on the floor. He went to the kitchen and got a couple of paper towels to clean up the water on the floor.
Side Note: I had cleaned the shower yesterday, so figured the shower liner did not get put back correctly and some water leaked out on the floor.
THAT IS NOT WHAT HAPPENED!!!
While Doug was wiping up the water, he was checking the connections on the underside of the toilet tank when the inlet valve broke and water was GUSHING everywhere. He was trying to keep the water out of his face and get the shut-off valve closed. It seemed like it took forever, when in reality it probably was less than a minute. We ended up with about 1/4" of water on the marble floor. I kept throwing towels down on the floor to sop up the water before it could get to the carpet.

Whew!!! That could have been way worse, if it had broken when we were not at home.!!!
Luckily, Doug has a spare inlet float valve in our plumbing supply box. So within an hour, the bathroom was cleaned up, the toilet repaired and in working order.
