Air Hunger

Today I went to the ENT doctor again. I have another tonsil stone. This one is "much" larger in size. But the main reason I went to the ENT doctor today, was my inability to breathe. My sinuses (especially the left nostril) were so inflamed that no air was getting through. I have been trying Advil Cold & Sinus, Claratin, Sudafed and a 4way nasal spray. Yes Dad I even put Vicks under my nose. Yes Mom I used a Neti Pot.  Nothing has been working! I have been waking up many times in the middle of the night with air hunger - gasping for air. So...I wasn't sure if this was related to my tonsil stone as it is on the same side...or if I had a sinus infection, nasal polyp or just inflamed adenoids. 

Dr Bryan tried to use her nasal speculum but she could not see anything because both nostrils were swollen shut.  She gave me some "special" nasal spray (from a canister that looked like an oxygen tank) She said it that would reduce the inflammation and swelling and then a few minutes later, she tried checking the sinuses again. It was only "very" slightly better. She could still not see past my swollen & painful sinuses. She did take a nasal culture and I will know by the end of the week, if I have a sinus infection.

My current course of treatment: Omnaris nasal spray - 2 puffs once a day and Prednisone for 12 days:40 mg x 3 days; then 30 mg x 3 days; then 20 mgs x 3 days and finally 10 mg x 3 days.
