What I found was a $1,000 charge to PayPal from Dolphins5. I called the bank for more specifics and found out the purchase was tied to Doug's bank debit card. The bank opened up a fraud case and has closed his card. They have marked the charge as fraudulent, so we won't have to pay for this purchase and the charges incurred if there are overdrafts, etc.. The bank suggested Doug follow-up with PayPal for more specifics about the vendor so they could also make a fraud claim.
In the mean time, FedEx delivered a package today.
The package only contained a 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper with the following typed on it:
"Thank you for your purchase, I have emailed your tickets to your hotmail account"
I called Doug with the added info.
Name, address & phone# on the FedEx package. A copy of the airbill, tracking detailed results and enclosed letter.
It appears someone has charged Miami (Heat/Dolphin) tickets to his debit card in the amount of $1,000. I say send the cops to the game and find those seat holders and arrest them. The problem is the scam probably goes deeper than that, and the person sold the purchased tickets to some other unsuspecting soul who won't have a clue.
After being on hold for 15 minutes with PayPal, he finally spoke with someone that states he has 2 PayPal accounts set up under his name. One he "actually" set up with his gmail email address and one he did not with a hotmail email address.
So tomorrow, he will go to the bank and get issued a new debit card. I hope this gets resolved soon. The bank said they cannot officially start the claim until the amount posts. I don't want the amount to post, but they state they will credit the fraudulent amount & fees back to our checking account in 2 business days.
I hope tomorrow will be a NORMAL day without any ISSUES!!!
