Memorial Day

Memorial Day - May 25, 2009

Karl and I accompanied Grandma Lyla and Grandpa Melvin
to the Memorial Day services at the cemetary.

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May.
Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War (it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the Civil War), it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of any war or military action.

Grandma Lyla and Karl are just waiting for the services to begin.
Here comes the fire truck!

I believe that Clarance Died when Dad (Melvin) was a Senior in high school. Dad graduated in 1951 so I would say that the date on the grave stone would be 1950.
