Tuesday Night Storms

Guess we are going to get a little more rain.
We received 1.46 inches of rain yesterday.

This is a snapshot of the local radar.
This is a snapshot of the regional radar.

I wonder if Hurricane Alex will have any affect on our weather at the end of the week.

As of today, Lewisville Lake is 93.61% full.

I'm Home

Well I have returned from a week of whirl-wind events.

Tuesday, June 22nd: I flew to Minneapolis and stayed overnight with the Swanson family.
They took me out for a Davanni's hoagie. YUM YUM!!

Wednesday, June 23rd. The day started early with all of us going to watch Makayla's Tball practice. Then Jenny, Makayla & I drove down to Iowa and stayed at my Mom & Dad's in Pomeroy as my mom was scheduled for an angiogram and some type of heart surgery depending on the type of blockage they found during the test.

Thursday, June 24th: Garry, Tammy & Bradley drove to Iowa. Mom's surgery was postponed from 7:30am to 12:30pm. Someone was in worse shape than her and needed emergency surgery. Mom would not have her angiogram until 3:10. She was out of the test by 4pm. The doctor found no blockage, what so ever. He stated "I hope my heart is as good as yours, when I'm 71!" The stress test she had done the week prior showed a complete blockage but now it was all of a sudden gone! Miracles do happen! Mom's sister's church was doing a prayer circle for her. They started praying at the time the surgery was supposed to start until it was over. My church was praying and Jennys church was praying also. So with all those extra prayers, miracles happened. Thank you all!! Mom would have to stay at the hospital until 10pm. It was a very happy day.

Friday, June 25th: Garry had scheduled us for a visit at the Fonda Museum. The entire family spent about 2 hours going through the large exhibit of local antiques and memorabilia. Makayla and I stopped down at my mother & father-in laws house in Fonda and enjoyed a short visit with them.

Saturday, June 26th: Jenny, Makayla and I would drive back to Minnesota. Later in the day, the Swanson family would take me "frisbee golfing" at a local golf course in Rosemount. I was able to do it just fine with my knee and all. Jenny kept mothering me and was sure I'd over do it. Jen & Dwight went to a movie "The Grown-Ups" and I babysat Makayla. We had a great time watching "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs". This was followed up by some "sockball game", "sockball Hide & Seek". There was a storm brewing and the sirens rang, so MK and I packed up some of her belongings and headed to the basement. It was short lived but we stayed up til the storm was just about over. Jen & Dwight, didn't hear any sirens during their movie.

Sunday, June 27th: Got up ...way early 4:45am. Left the Swanson houseold by 5:15am to get to the MSP airport. My flight to Dallas was at 7:10 am. I arrived home safe & sound. It was great to see all the family.

The trip was not all fun. I did take my laptop along and worked during the free times.
Makayla would set up her toy laptop across the table from me and record all the 6 digit numbers from my remote secure id generator. It was so cute!

Anyways...I'm glad the trip was un-eventful as far as my mom was concerned but it was still great to see everyone even under these circumstances.

Happy Father's Day

You were there from the very beginning.
You played with us.
You comforted us and made us feel better.

You showed us the right way to do things for the first time.

You took us on adventures!

You showed us how to take pride in our workmanship.

You shared your love of cooking with us.

You showed us how to take care of our cars.

You shared your love of flying with us.

You shared your love of boating with us.

We learned a great work ethic from you.

You were always there to celebrate our accomplishments.

Thank you, Dad...
for listening and caring,
for giving and sharing,
but, especially, for just being you!
Happy Father's Day.
We Love You!

My Dads

Father's Day in the United States is on the third Sunday of June.
It celebrates the contribution that fathers and father figures make for their children's lives.
Its origins may lie in a memorial service held for a large group of men, many of them fathers,
who were killed in a mining accident in Monongah, West Virginia in 1907.
I'm glad I have a special day to remember a couple of the best dads around!

Heart 'Achin

I talked with my mom last night to get an update on her recent cardiac testing. She only had the results of her Calcium test. The calcium score for her age showed mild atherosclerosis (plaque) in the arteries.

She had a chemical stress test yesterday. She did not have the results of that until she called me this morning and said there was "some blockage". She is scheduled for an angiogram on Thursday, June 24th in Fort Dodge. At that time they will doing either a angioplasty (balloon to widen the narrow or obstructed vessel) or PCI "Percutaneou Coronary Intervention" (stent is placed in the artery to keep it open).

I'll update next week when I know more. Prayers of healing are requested for my mom.

New Cars

Well two new cars have been added to the Kuklenz family.

Karl ordered his car from the Chevrolet dealership last week.
They just started manufacturing the 2011 Camaros on Monday, June 7th.

His car of choice is a silver 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS.
It should be delivered in about 8 weeks.

Karl is VERY excited about his purchase.
He has been driving his 1996 Buick since he was a junior in high school.
He has been fortunate that his car has served him well for 10 years
(2 yrs of high school + 7 years of college and 1 year of employment at G.E.)
Today, Jill & Josh purchased a black 2007 Ford Edge with 23,000 miles on it.

They will be selling her red Toyota Camry in the next few weeks.

For Sale: Used Buick and Used Camry
Any takers?????

Congratulations everyone!
Enjoy your "new" rides!!
