Supplies: aluminum frame (cut to fit each particular window), frame corners, rolls of screen, pull tabs & spline tool
Instructions:
1) Set the aluminum frame flat on the garage floor with the side of the aluminum frame containing the spline facing skyward. The spline is a rubber material, black or gray, and embedded in the groove of the aluminum frame.
2) Grab one end of the spline with the needle-nose pliers and gently pull toward you to lift the spline from the groove in the aluminum frame.
3) Pull the damaged/worn screen from the aluminum frame with your hands, after you have removed the spline from the groove of the aluminum frame.
4) Clean the entire groove of the aluminum frame with a wire brush with a 409 mixture, to ensure that the groove is free of dirt and debris.
5) Unroll a section of screen and lay it over top of the cleaned aluminum frame.
6) Cut the the screen to the outside dimension of the aluminum frame leaving some overlap.
7) Push the screen into the groove of the aluminum frame with the grooved wheel of the spline tool.
8) Force one end of the spline into the groove of the aluminum frame with the split wheel of the spline tool. Secure one side of the screen to the aluminum frame by working the spline along the groove of the aluminum frame.
9) Work the spline around the perimeter of the aluminum frame to secure the screen in the aluminum frame.
10)Cut the spline with the side-cutting pliers when you reach the end of the spline that you started in step 8 and then push the cut end of the spline into the groove of the aluminum frame.
11) Trim the screen and add the window - pull tabs.
